Launch of CII-IBF Official Wechat Account (Jul 29, 2016)

 

1. The Wechat Account of Confederation of Indian Industries- India Business Forum (CII-IBF) was launched on July 29, 2016 by Consul General & Co-Patron CII-IBF China Shri Prakash Gupta at the Consulate General of India in Shanghai. Consul General, in his opening remarks, said that the launch of the CII – IBF Wechat Account was a unique initiative of CII-Shanghai, which aimed to bring together leading Indian industries in China (under the banner of the India Business Forum – IBF) on one common electronic platform. He added that while this was a unique and welcome step to adapt to one of China’s most popular communication platforms, it was hoped that it would also enable faster and greater sharing of information and success stories amongst local Indian CEO’s on a real time basis, and thereby further promote Indian business interests in Eastern China, and build “Brand India” in China better.

2. Mr Sujit Chatterjee, Chairman Designate, CII-IBF China and President, Tata Consultancy Services, China said in his welcome address that the CII IBF Wechat Account would be a great platform to stay up-to-date with the latest industry news and trends in China and would provide a meaningful opportunity for India and Indian companies to market themselves to the larger consumer group in furthering their commitment to the Chinese economy.

3. Mr Madhav Sharma, Chief Representative, CII China Representative office, said that The CII-IBF Wechat account was in line with the growing social media trend in China and would help in creating greater awareness of CII in China, create greater awareness of CII-IBF member companies amongst Chinese businesses, would showcase CII-IBF Members business interest in China leading to greater businesses, highlight opportunities for Chinese businesses in India under the Make in India initiative, highlight some of the latest policy updates, business development events both in India and China. He also mentioned that this platform will help build greater two way communication between businesses.

4. Since the establishment of CII office in China in 2003, the number of Indian companies in China have grown substantially. Therefore in 2009, CII China launched the India-Business Forum. The Patron for CII-IBF is H.E. Mr Vijay Gokhale, Ambassador of India to China and its Chairman is Mr Prakash Menon, President NIIT (China) Ltd and Chairman - Designate is Mr Sujit Chatterjee, President, Tata Consultancy Services, China.

5. The CII India-Business Forum aims to promote Indian business interests in China through collective approach. The CII-IBF is also a platform for members to meet with Chinese companies interested in dong business with India, Think Tanks, universities and other policy organizations of China. The forum also works in showcasing India and Indian industry, thereby building “Brand India” in China.

6. CII-IBF Members are from different sectors such as Information Technology, Pharmaceuticals, Auto Components, Automobiles, Textiles & Textile Machinery , Chemicals, Education, Financial Services, Food Processing to name a few.
